How Do You Get Orange Rust Stains of Bathroom & Other Tile Grout?
Grout is generally sealed at the time of installation and needs to be routinely reapplied, about every year or so. To resist moisture and staining, sealants act as a protective barrier. It is important to use the appropriate cleaners and implements when cleaning the tiles and grout since grout can be damaged if improperly maintained and cleaned.
Hydrogen Peroxide: It works well to remove the rust stains and the grout is undamaged with hydrogen peroxide. In a clean squirt bottle, mix a solution of 1 cup water and 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide. Directly spray the peroxide mixture onto the rust and then scrub with a soft bristle brush or sponge with circular scrub patterns. Rinse the area well with warm water to eliminate any cleaner or rust remains once the rust is efficiently cleaned from the grout. This solution is tough on any mildew or mold stains as well. It is important to know hydrogen peroxide is a lightening agent. You can potentially lighten your grout’s color by using highly concentrated levels. Be sure to test the diluted solution in an inconspicuous area first to be safe.
Powder Laundry Detergent: To avoid any kind of damage to the surface, laundry detergent is gentle enough and is effective at removing rust stains. Onto the rust stain, lightly dampen the affected area and sprinkle moderately a layer of powder laundry detergent. For 5-10 minutes, allow the detergent to loosen up the stain. Work the rust stain with circular motions and rinse with a soft-bristle brush or a sponge. Repeat as necessary, and when done rinse the area well with warm water to remove the detergent and rust residues from the surface, pat the area dry.
Liquid Dish Detergent: You can also efficiently lift out rust stains from grout by using a mild liquid dish detergent. Combine about 20 drops of mild dish soap and a cup of water in a spray bottle for easy application. Let the mixture soak into the grout for 5-10 minutes after generously spray the rust stains. Scrub any residual rust stains using sponge or soft-bristle brush. Repeat if needed. Be sure to use warm water to remove the soapy film and any linger rust residues from the surface once the rust is dissolved. To maintain and clean your tile and grout regularly, you can also use this solution.
