There are many traditions and celebrations that occur during the holiday season. Passing around treats and sweet goodies are common as we express to friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and family we are thinking of them during this cheerful time. Today, we at My Steam Green Carpet Cleaning Orange County would like to share steps for removing a couple of popular holiday treats from carpets.
How Do You Get Candy Canes Out of Carpet?
1) It can take a bit, but you need to start by moistening the candy cane with cold water. Doing so will dissolve the sugar that is bonding it to the carpet. Pull the large pieces of candy out of the carpet once it is dissolved enough to loosen. A spoon can be used to scrape the candy off of the fibers if necessary.
2) Apply a stain remover to any stains that remain on the carpet next. Pet enzyme cleaners will work particularly well on these stains, but any carpet stain remover could work.
3) To absorb the stain remover along with the stain, blot with a clean cloth. In order to avoid reapplying the stain, switch to a clean portion of the cloth frequently.
4) If the stain persists, blot the area with a cloth moistened with white vinegar.
5) Blot the area with a clean cloth moistened with plain water to rinse once the stain is removed.
6) To remove any excess moisture, blot with a dry cloth.
7) Let the area to dry completely.
How to Remove Sticky Fudge from Carpet
1) Pick up any fudge chunks and with a cleaning cloth, blot as much of the stain as possible.
2) Combine one tablespoon liquid dishwashing soap and two cups warm water in a bowl or bucket mix a cleaning solution.
3) Sponge the solution onto the stain using a fresh cleaning cloth.
4) Until all liquid is absorbed, continue to blot the stain using a fresh cleaning cloth.
5) Until the stain disappears or the stain is no longer being absorbed into the cloth, repeat steps.
6) Mix one tablespoon of ammonia and two cups of warm water if the stain has not been completely removed.
7) With a new cleaning cloth, sponge the solution onto the stain.
8) Blot until the stain the liquid is sopped up.
9) Try applying a few drops of hydrogen peroxide then blotting the stain if the stain persists.
10) Apply a few drops of ammonia and the blot dry again, next.
11) To rinse out any soap residue, sponge the area with cool water. A residue builds up and discoloration of carpet can be caused from any residual cleaners being left behind.
12) With a fresh cloth, pat the area. As much liquid as possible needs to be absorbed since mold or mildew growth can develop with moisture left behind.
